Suffolk Men's team struggled to make an impression at the 1st stage Division 2 County weekend in Buckinghamshire. An understrength team competed gamely but lost all their matches in a very strong group.

Stage 1
The Over 35's travelled to Essex for their Div 1 County weekend and came against some strong opposition in the form of Essex, Herts and Ulster. Mark Baggott and Stuart Parke were the only bright spots for Suffolk both playing extremely well and helping to redeem Suffolk's pride with some masterful squash.

Stage 2
Venue - Derbyshire
Counties - Derbyshire 2, Yorkshire and Essex
Stage 1 - 28/29 November
The Over 45's travelled to Buckingshamshire for their 1st Inter County weekend to take on Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Essex. Their first match against Bucks proved to be a tough one and they went down 4-1, with Martin Levens the only winner. In the afternoon they defeated Northants 3-2 with wins from Peter Alexander, Gary Robinson and Dave Taylor. So the scene was set - they had to beat Essex on the Sunday morning to stand any chance of going into the promotion group for the second weekend after Christmas. Alas, Essex proved to be too strong and they went down 3-2 with wins from Peter Alexander and Gary Robinson and were left to wonder what might have happend if they had been able to play the new" youngster" in the age category, Marvin Rust, who was unavailable.
Team
Martin Levens, Peter Alexander, Dave Taylor, Gary Robinson, Steve Andvig
Stage 2 - 23/24 February
Following swiftly on the heels of the Over 50's weekend, virtually the same squad, minus Dave Taylor but with some young blood in the form of Martin Levens coming in at Number 1, travelled to Daventry for their second weekend to play Northants, Devon and Kent. The first match against Kent was a close affair with Suffolk coming out on top 3-2 with wins from Martin Levens, Pete Alexander and Steve Anvik. Unfortunately they could not maintain this form going into the afternoon against Devon and this time went down 3-2. Once again it was down to the Sunday morning decider, this time against Northants, to determine who would be relegated to Division 3. 3-0 wins for Peter Alexander, Garry Robinson and Steve Fair, plus narrow 3-2 losses from Martin Levens and Steve Andvig gave Suffolk sufficient points to come second overall and therefore retain their Division 2 status.

Stage 1
Suffolk's Over 50's started their campaign with wins over Essex, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire at Moreton Hall Health Club in Bury St Edmunds. On paper it looked like it was going to be between Norfolk and Suffolk, with both counties winning their 1st matches convincingly. They met for what was the deciding match in the afternoon session and it was Dave Taylor who was the hero of the hour with a dramatic fightback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and give Suffolk the match by the same score. Suffolk went on to beat Cambs on the Sunday morning to top the group for the weekend.
Team - Peter Alexander, David Taylor, Steve Fair, Trevor Smith, Steve Andvig
Stage 2
Suffolk Men's Over 50's travelled to Norwich for their second county weekend. After a successful campaign in the previous round, this was to decide who would go up to the Premier Division. Also in the group were Norfolk, Avon and Wiltshire. With a win against Wiltshire and a loss agianst Avon, again it was down to the Sunday morning match against Norfolk to see who would join Avon in the top flight. With wins from Steve Andvig and Peter Alexander and losses from Steve Fair, it was again down to Dave Taylor in the deciding match - against the same opponent whom he beat in the previous weekend 3-2. Unfortunately Dave could not repeat the heroics and lost 3-1, 10-9 in the fourth.
