National Junior Coach Lee Drew has revealed the squad to represent England at the forthcoming WSF Men's and Women's World Junior Squash Championships in India from 18-29 July.

The team selected to represent England in the Women’s Individual Championships will be European Under 19 champion Lucy Turmel (Suffolk), British Under 23 champion Elise Lazarus (Essex) and two-time English Junior champion Alice Green (Essex). England No1 Laura Massaro will be joining Drew as part of the coaching and mentoring team at the event.

Turmel, who is ranked 60 in the world and is mentored by Massaro said:

“I’m honoured to be representing England in Chennai, I can't wait to get stuck in and see how far I can get. I’m so excited Laura Massaro’s coming as she is someone I've always looked up to.”

Commenting on the women’s squad, Drew said:

“Turmel, Lazarus and Green are becoming experienced competitors in this environment. It’s this kind of exposure that will make them competitive and provide them with a platform to challenge at this level, and to build on as they transition into their senior careers."

The England team selected for the Men’s Individual Junior Championships will comprise of: Nick Wall (Yorkshire), James Wyatt (Surrey), Jared Carter (Hampshire), Sam Todd (Yorkshire), Curtis Malik (Sussex) and Joshua Owen (Warwickshire).

Team England will be striving for a podium finish once again and capitalise on the Bronze medal they won in 2016 in Poland. Historically, England perform well at the Men’s World Team Juniors, having medalled 14 out of 19 times.
